Keen to share his real personality with viewers, the 30-year-old has been posting commentary dear to his heart all over social media. In a recent Tweet, he highlighted the Once Upon a Smile charity he co-founded. Once Upon a Smile is a charity dedicated to “providing opportunities for children to understand and express their emotions in a fun and safe environment”. Danny recognises that “anxiety and depression grabs you and shakes you no matter who you are or what walk of life”.

The new father – to son, Albert, who he shares with his fiancée Steph Jones – previously posted on Instagram about his mental health struggles during lockdown.

“We all show off our best moments on socials, never do we share the worst moments.

“But this girl [Steph] has shared and carried some of the lowest points of my life over the last few months.”

Danny described his fiancée as a “true friend” who was “a light at the end of a very dark tunnel”.

Anybody who is struggling right now is encouraged by Danny to “talk to someone”.

“Allow someone to love you and love them in return,” he said to over 400,000 followers.

Mental health support

The NHS offer a “Hub of Hope” whereby localised mental health charities – specific to your needs – can be shown to you.


HelpGuide stated: “Whatever your circumstances, there are ways to overcome feelings of sadness and despair, improve your mood, and regain a sense of hope.”

The charity continued: “Depression drains your energy, hope, and drive, making it difficult to take the steps that will help you to feel better.

“Sometimes, just thinking about the things you should do to feel better, like exercising or spending time with friends, can seem exhausting or impossible to put into action.”

The “key” in overcoming depression is to “start small and build from there”.

Drawing on the energy reserves that you do have, take a walk around the block or pick up the phone to contact a loved one.

“Taking the first step is always the hardest,” the charity made clear. “But going for a walk or getting up and dancing to your favourite music, for example, is something you can do right now.”

Dancing to your favourite music could boost your mood for several hours – long enough to put a second recovery step into action.

Such a second step could be to arrange to meet a friend or to prepare a nutritious meal.

Taking small, but positive steps day by day, can help alleviate the heavy fog of depression.

When feelings of anxiety are affecting your day to day life, the NHS recommends seeking support.

Physical sensations of anxiety can range from shaking, chest pains, to feeling lightheaded.

Mental symptoms can include tearfulness, difficulty concentrating, and obsessive thoughts.

You can refer yourself to an NHS psychological therapies service (IAPT).
